Beirut Container Terminal Consortium equipment operators at the port go on strike and stage a sit-in to demand wage increase
وطنية - أفادت مندوبة "الوكالة الوطنية للاعلام" أن موظفي الشركة المشغلة لمحطة الحاويات في المرفأ BCTC، نفذوا اعتصاما احتجاجا على "الواقع المعيشي المتأزم الذي يعيشونه". وطالبوا ب"تحسين الرواتب"، معلنين أن "الاعتصام مستمر حتى تحقيق المطالب".
Beirut Container Terminal Consortium equipment operators at the port had gone on strike on September 6th. The employees had called for a salary raise to offset the devaluation of their wages and the rising prices of basic needs. A spokesperson for the company confirmed on September 13th that the employees are back to work after management heard them out. Truck drivers at the port also threatened to strike this week, but they suspended any action until Thursday, the deadline they have set for their employers to honor a promise to give them a $125 cash raise in salary.
