Michael Kaplan

Michael Kaplan is a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Anthropology at George Washington University (GWU) in Washington DC. His doctoral research explores Islamic revivalist communities in Turkey, with a focus on migration and mobility. Prior to joining GWU, Michael completed a B.A. in History at the New School in New York City and an M.A. in Islamic and Near Eastern Studies at Washington University in St. Louis. He spent several intermediary years as a journalist, reporting primarily on topics including religion, conflict, migration, and human rights in the Middle East.
