Hassan Sherry

Hassan Sherry is a Research Assistant at Carnegie Middle East Centre (CMEC). His research focuses on social justice, citizenship, and education in the Arab region, post-uprisings. Previously, Hassan worked as a Research Officer at the Arab NGO Network for Development (ANND). His areas of focus included monitoring trade, investment, and tax policies, tax policies, as well as the role of international financial institutions in the Arab region, assessing their impact on development and on economic and social rights of citizens and local communities of Arab countries. He co-authored a recently published study entitled “Arab Uprisings and Social Justice: Implications of IMF Subsidy Reform Policies,” which was discussed during 2013 Annual Meetings of the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund. Hassan graduated from the University of Manchester (UoM), UK, with a Master of Science Degree in Development Economics and Policy. He has earned his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Economics from the American University of Beirut (AUB).
