Elie Al-Hindy
Elie Al-Hindy is the Executive Director of Adyan Foundation. Professor of Political Science and International Affairs, at Notre Dame University (since 2009), with research interests focusing on: Minorities, Consociational Democracy, Inclusive Citizenship, Lebanese & Middle Eastern Studies, Electoral Engineering, Human Rights, Civil Society, Youth Participation, Religion and Politics, and Peace Education. He earned his PhD (2009) in Government and International Relations from the University of Sydney – Australia on the topic of “The Right of Self Determination for Minorities: An Arab Perspective”. He has an MBA in International Affairs and Diplomacy (2001) and two bachelor degrees in Political and Administrative Sciences (2000) and in International Affairs and Diplomacy (1998).
His previous work experience includes:
Director of the Middle East Institute for Research and Strategic Studies (MEIRSS) (2014-2020);
Chairperson of the Department of Government and International Relations at NDU (2011-2015);
Teaching world politics, international relations at the University of Sydney and Macquarie University (2005-2009);
Project Officer at the International Management and Training Institute in YMCA (2002-2004);
Dr. Al-Hindy is an active member, trainer and consultant in many national and international civil society organizations for more the past 20 years. His current Civil Society affiliations include:
Co-Founder & former President of the Board (2010-2017) of ALEF – act for human rights
Co-Founder & member of the board (since 2019) of the International and Transitional Justice Resource Center
Board member of Dialogue for Life & Reconciliation (since 2020)
