Press freedom in Jordan experienced a significant contraction during the mandate of king Abdallah II. How did the imposed restrictions contribute to shape and frame contentious events and actions in the Hashemite Kingdom over the last two decades? Written by Dr. Rossana Tufaro, this paper aims to provide a preliminary assessment of the role played by the enforcement and the strategic application of restrictions on media freedom in consolidating King Abdallah II’s rule, by scrutinizing how the cumulative strategic application of press restrictions succeeded or failed to validate King Abdallah II's international reputation of a moderate and progressive leader, and legitimize the neoliberal upgrading of the authoritarian bargain with his domestic constituencies.

3- Endorse our statement on the Special Drawing Rights (SDRs) of the International Monetary Fund: “SDRs should be used for the people in Lebanon, and not to ensure the permanence of the ruling class”
The Arab NGO Network for Development and Lebanon Support have released this statement, available in Arabic and English. The statement calls on the Lebanese Government to earmark the Special Drawing Rights allocations, to co-create participatory mechanisms including civil society actors and independent experts to monitor the transparency of expenditures, and calls on civil society actors to act as a watchdog and monitor this process.

تُعقد ندوتنا الإفتراضية المقبلة تحت عنوان "توفير الحقّ في الصحّة للجميع، وتحقيق المساواة في الحصول على اللقاح في الشرق الأوسط وشمال أفريقيا. مقاربة ما بعد الاستعمارية" نهار الخميس الواقع في ٢ أيلول/سبتمبر، في تمام الساعة الحادية عشرة صباحًا بتوقيت بيروت
تهدف هذه الندوة الافتراضية إلى البحث في مسألة عدم المساواة في الحصول على اللقاح في منطقة الشرق الأوسط وشمال أفريقيا، بالإضافة إلى مناقشة التحدّيات المرتبطة بالسياقات المحلّية وأبرزها بطء سير حملات التلقيح وصعوبات تأمين مستلزمات اللقاح وأخرى مرتبطة بحسن سير عملية التلقيح
