Lebanon Support is currently seeking submissions for thematic issues for the Civil Society Review.
Scope of the Journal
Published by Lebanon Support, the Civil Society Review emphasises cutting-edge and critical transdisciplinary analysis in a wide range of topics relevant to social sciences. It offers a novel space where academics and practitioners converge to discuss theories and reflect on practices.
It demonstrates a variety of perspectives through dynamic, historicised, and processual approaches to reflections on civil society action, and strategies in the region. While we acknowledge the polysemy and controversy behind the concept of “civil society”, and the often elusive opposition it displays, we are committed to producing original literature that both offers a reflection on civil society, particularly its contentious role and autonomy, as well as creates knowledge for what we hope can constitute tools for action and social change in the region. In this vein, the Civil Society Review, grounded in empirical research, aims at contributing to a theoretical production adopting a comparative approach among countries in the region and elsewhere. It hence focuses on the creation of a knowledge space for epistemological debates, theoretical usages, as well as empirical methodologies.
The Civil Society Review is a peer reviewed journal
All submissions to the journal are subject to a double peer review (internally by the journal's editorial board, and externally notably thanks to the journal’s growing review board).
Guidelines for Submission of Thematic Issues
Guidelines
Submissions in English, Arabic, and French are accepted. Submissions must comply with Lebanon Support’s guidelines. Priority is given to submissions that adopt a radical and critical approach to related concepts and categories, engage with a solid theoretical framework, and are based on empirical research. All submissions – of papers, and thematic issues – are reviewed by the editorial board, which can accept the proposal as is, suggest modifications, or reject it.
For thematic issues submission, coordinators of the issue should submit:
- General presentation of the proposed thematic, with proposed title of the issue (2 pages)
- Proposal of table of contents, with at least 5 articles and identified authors
- Issue editor’s CV
- Issue editor’s short biography (200 words)
- Issue editor’s cover letter
If the thematic issue is approved, the issue editor is expected to follow up on the process of developing the issue, in collaboration with the editorial board.
* In the case of submission of a proposal for a thematic issue, without identified authors/ article, and therefore requiring the publication of an open call, please submit the above documents mentioning in the subject line: Proposition of thematic call.

غاية المجلة
تشدّد مجلة المجتمع المدني التي يصدرها مركز دعم لبنان على التحليلات الرائدة والحيوية المتعددة الاختصاصات في مجالٍ واسعٍ من الموضوعات المرتبطة بالعلوم الاجتماعية. وهي تقدّم فضاءً مبتكراً يتلاقى فيه الأكاديميون والممارسون لمناقشة النظريات والتفكّر في الممارسات
كما أنّها تظهِر مجموعةً متنوعةً من وجهات النظر عبر مقارباتٍ ديناميكية ومؤرخنة وإجرائية للتفكّر في نشاط المجتمع المدني واستراتيجياته في المنطقة. وفي حين أننا نقرّ بتعدّد الدلالات والجدل القائم على مفهوم "المجتمع المدني"، والتعارض المضلل الذي يعرضه في كثيرٍ من الأحيان، فنحن نلتزم بإنتاج أدبياتٍ أصيلةٍ تقدّم في آنٍ معاً تفكراً في قضايا المجتمع المدني، ولاسيما دوره المثير للجدل واستقلاليته، وتخلق كذلك معرفةً لما نأمل بأن يكون قادراً على تشكيل أدواتٍ للنشاط والتغيير الاجتماعي في المنطقة. ضمن هذا السياق، تهدف مجلّة المجتمع المدني المستندة إلى البحث التجريبي إلى المساهمة في إنتاجٍ نظريٍ يتبنى مقاربةً مقارنة بين البلدان في المنطقة وأماكن أخرى. وهي بالتالي تركّز على خلق فضاءٍ معرفيٍّ للمناقشات المعرفية والاستخدامات النظرية، وكذلك المنهجيات التجريبية
تنتج مجلّة المجتمع المدني أبحاثاً وتحليلاتٍ تستند إلى الوقائع، وتنشر النتائج والتوصيات بهدف الترويج للالتزام المدني وصناعة السياسات وتنشيط النقاش ضمن دوائر المجتمع المدني
مجلة المجتمع المدني تتبع مراجعة الأقران
يتمّ مراجعة جميع المساهمات مرتين، داخلياً من قبل هيئة تحرير وخارجياً، لا سيّما من قبل هيئة المراجعة
الخطوط التوجيهية لتقديم إصدارات موضوعاتية
تقبل الأوراق البحثية باللغات الإنكليزية والعربية والفرنسية، على أن تتوافق مع الخطوط التوجيهية الخاصة بمركز دعم لبنان. تعطى الأولوية للأوراق التي تتبنى مقاربةً جذريةً ونقديةً للمفاهيم والمقولات ذات الصلة وتلتزم بإطارٍ نظريٍ متين وتستند إلى البحث التجريبي. وتخضع كافة الأوراق والموضوعات المرسلة إلى مراجعة أقران يقوم بها مجلس التحرير الذي يستطيع رفض المقترح كما هو أو اقتراح تعديلاتٍ عليه أو رفضه
:من أجل إرسال قضايا موضوعاتية، يجب على منسّق / منسّقي القضية الالتزام بما يلي
(تقديم عام للموضوع المقترح، مع عنوان مقترح للموضوع (صفحتان-
اقتراح جدول محتويات، لا تقل بنوده عن 5 مواد وكاتب محدد-
السيرة الذاتية لمحرر الموضوع-
(سيرة مختصرة لمحرر الموضوع (٢٠٠ كلمة-
رسالة إحالة لمحرر الموضوع-
لا تقبل مجلة المجتمع المدني إلا الأبحاث المرسلة عن طريق الإنترنت إلى العنوان التالي

.في حال إقرار الموضوع، ينتظَر من محرر الموضوع اتباع سيرورة تطويره بالتعاون مع هيئة التحرير
في حال إرسال اقتراح لقضية موضوعاتية من دون تحديد المؤلّفين / المقال، وبالتالي في حال تطلّب الأمر نشر دعوة مفتوحة، الرجاء إرسال الوثائق المذكورة أعلاه بحيث يكون موضوع الرسالة: اقتراح دعوة موضوعاتية
