Health Minister Firass Abiad issued a decision Wednesday to begin an inspection to confirm pharmacists are complying with the prices of medicines issued by his ministry and are abiding by the law on other regulations governing their operations. This decision was reached by the ministry and the pharmacists’ syndicate in an effort to control the medicine market and drug prices. “The inspectors can look for any violations of the law, including the malpractice of the profession [and] noncompliance with the prices issued by the Ministry of Public Health,” a joint statement issued by the syndicate and the ministry read.

وطنية - اصدر  وزير الصحة العامة الدكتور فراس الأبيض قرارا يتعلق بالتعاون بين وزارة الصحة العامة ونقابة الصيادلة لجهة تفعيل التفتيش لضبط سوق الدواء وسعره. وجاء فيه "إن صلاحيات المفتشين التابعين للنقابة تشمل كل المخالفات المتعلقة بقانون مزاولة مهنة الصيدلة، ومنها التقيد بالأسعار الصادرة عن وزارة الصحة العامة وعند صدور كل مؤشر وفقا للقرارات النافذة والمتعلقة بأسعار الادوية وضبط المخالفة". وأوضح المكتب الإعلامي لوزير الصحة العامة أن  القرار يهدف إلى "تأكيد التزام الصيادلة أسعار الادوية المحددة من قبل الوزارة من دون أي تعديل أو تلاعب بها، وذلك من خلال جولات مراقبة يقوم بها كل من مفتشي دائرة التفتيش الصيدلي في وزارة الصحة العامة ومفتشي النقابة. ويحقق هذا التعاون ضبطا لسوق الدواء وردعا للمخالفات، حيث ستتخذ الإجراءات القانونية اللازمة ومن دون أي تهاون بحق المخالفين".
