Ministry of Interior bans motorcycles on parliamentary election day

Interior Minister Bassam Mawlawi on Tuesday issued a decision pertaining to movement on parliamentary elections day. The decision bans motorcycles across the country. According to the decision, motorcycles are banned as a mode of transportation between 6 a.m. Sunday and 6 a.m. Monday, with limited exceptions. These exceptions apply to “security forces, public administration workers, municipality workers, independent workers, news outlets, journalists and photographers, companies that distribute newspapers and what is known as delivery for restaurants and pharmacies,” the document issued by the minister states. “Security forces, municipal police officers are assigned to implement this decision and must take appropriate measures against people who don’t abide by the decision,” the decision also states.
