Ministry of Energy and Water increases prices of gasoline and cooking gas

Date:
Tuesday, December 28, 2021

Fuel prices increased again Tuesday, though prices have dropped worldwide. The price of 20 liters of 95-octane gasoline increased by LL10,800 to LL335,800; 98-octane, by LL11,400 to LL347,800. Twenty liters of diesel now costs LL900 less at LL336,200, while the price of household cooking gas increased by LL1,400 to LL298,600.

A spokesperson for gas station owners George Brax attributed the rise in the price of gasoline “although it dropped worldwide” to the central bank’s decision to increase its dollar rate from LL22,100 to LL23,200 and because the lira slightly dropped against the dollar on the parallel market during this week. Brax also said that diesel dropped by only LL900 “although its price dropped $8 per kilo” worldwide, because of the devaluation of the lira against the dollar.

The Energy Ministry is updating fuel prices at least once a week due to the constant fluctuation of the lira rate on the parallel market.
