Concrete security barriers removed in Beirut, Aley

Date:
Sunday, March 3, 2019

oncrete blocks were removed from outside the Future Movement’s Beirut headquarters and from outside MP Talal Arslan’s residence in Aley Sunday, after Lebanon’s new interior minister started an initiative to clear security barriers across the country.
The concrete blocks had been placed around the ministry in June 2014 following a series of security incidents in the country, including the arrest of 17 terror suspects in the Hamra neighborhood and a suicide bombing attack on a police checkpoint in Bekaa.

Hassan later promised to continue with her initiative to remove various security barriers impeding street traffic, focusing on roadblocks that have been established in Beirut, but also in other areas where needed.
