On Friday, Judge Nadia Akl, one of the advocate generals of the Bekaa Appellate Court, ruled for the issuing of an arrest warrant for a cleric accused of rape of a minor at a school for teaching the Quran holy book, L’Orient Today’s correspondent in the region reported. The warrant was issued after an investigation conducted at a Rashaya police station after the victim and her father lodged a complaint with authorities. The cleric, who has not been named, tried to circumvent his crime by marrying the victim on Dec. 4, after which he divorced her, the correspondent added.
