Working Paper No. 459: Development Ethics Through the Lenses of Caring, Gender, and Human Security

This paper explores some faces of globalization by using a gender perspective, in order to consider reproduction (psychological and emotional as well as biological) and the activities and attitudes of care that give moral resources for response to systemic tragedy, not only for identifying and understanding it. There now exist globally interconnected systems of vulnerability and capability, for which matching systems of human security, care and responsibility are needed in order to protect human dignity.

Child Sexual Abuse: The Lebanese Situation

This study was envisioned by KAFA in partnership with Save the Children Sweden following the encounter with several child sexual abuse victims at the end of the July 2006 war. It has been implemented in collaboration with the Higher Council for Childhood (HCC), the Ministry of Social Affairs (MOSA), the Development Community Centers, Arab International Society for the Prevention of Child Abuse and Neglect (ARABISPCAN), the Rene Mouawad Foundation (Access MENA Project), World Vision Area Development Programs in Bourj Hammoud and Bekaa, in addition to Child Protection NGOs.

Relief as a neutral form of aid or a political-communal mobilization? Doing politics in emergencies and war and the politics of aid in Lebanon

This case study explores the issues of neutrality and local commitment in providing assistance during war and conflict. It aims at placing the humanitarian principle of neutrality, a global principle of humanitarian assistance that posits a specific form and stance in providing aid, in conversation with local forms of political and communal mobilization of relief, by taking as an example the July war in 2006, and its aftermath.

الدليل إلى معرفة أحوال المرأة

ان كتاب "الدليل إلى معرفة أحوال المرأة" الصادر عام 2010،هو ثمرة للتعاون القائم بين الهيئة الوطنية لشؤون المرأة اللبنانية وصندوق الأمم المتحدة الإنمائي للمرأة ، في إطار البرنامج الإقليمي لدعم الحقوق الإنسانية للمرأة UNIFEM في مناطق المغرب والمشرق. وهو يرمي في الأساس إلى رسم الأطر التي يمكن من خلالها التعرّف على أحوال المرأة في مجالات عدّة في بلادنا، فالقاعدة المعرفيّة الموضوعيّة حول قضايا المرأة تشكّل الأساس الذي يمكن الإنطلاق منه لرفع مستوى الإدراك العام لأهميّة هذه القضايا ولرسم الاستراتيجيات الفعالة لمناصرتها.
