The General Security arrested a man affiliated with Daesh (ISIS) and who fought against the Lebanese Army in northeast Lebanon in 2014.
Syrian national, identified as S.D., was arrested after the General Security acquired information on his affiliation to the terrorist group, a statement from the agency said.
After his arrest S.D. admitted to belonging to several terrorist groups the latest of which was Daesh.
He was specifically a member of the Daesh group ""led by terrorist Abu Al-Baraa,” the statement said.
S.D. also confessed to participating in the August 2014 Arsal clashes against the Army, when militants belonging to Daesh and Jabhat Fatah al-Sham-previously known as the Nusra Front- briefly overran the town.
“He also admitted to being active in providing logistics for Daesh and facilitating the transportation of its fighters between the outskirts [of the town] and Arsal,” the statement said.
He was referred to the relevant judicial authorities for further investigation.
