Energy company workers protested late wages
Dozens of workers employed by the Debbas Company staged a sit-in on September 14th, in front of the company's offices in Corniche al-Nahr, Beirut, to protest the late payment of wages.

Debbas is an energy contractor that works under the authority of Lebanon’s state-run electricity company, Electricite Du Liban.

The demonstrators said they had not been paid their wages for several months, despite reports that Debbas had received all of their outstanding payments from Electricite Du Liban.

Workers complained that they could not afford basic household items and were unable to pay tuition for their children as the new school year begins.
