Lebanese Army Intelligence arrested two suspected terrorists including a Daesh (ISIS) leader in Arsal.
The first suspect, a Lebanese national identified as Ibrahim Ahmed Zaarour, is one of the most prominent leaders of Daesh in the town of Arsal.The second detainee was identified as Syrian national Oday Hussein al-Khatib, who allegedly participated in 2014 clashes in Arsal between Daesh militants and the Army.
According to the statement, the two suspected terrorists had monitored the Army’s movements and planned several car bombings and IED attacks targeting military sites.
The Army said that Khatib had participated in the 2015 bombing of the Muslim Scholars Committee headquarters in Arsal, and targeted the Army patrol as it headed to the scene of the explosion. He was also allegedly linked with a man referred to by the Army as ""Abu al-Ward"" who is believed to be associated with the eight Al-Qaa suicide bombings in 2016.
