The Internal Security Forces busted one of Lebanon’s largest narcotics networks after a monthslong surveillance operation.
After two operations in July - seizing a Captagon's shipment at the airport, and raiding a warehouse in Baalbeck -, the third part of the operation allowed the ISF to arrest 9 members of the drug ring.
Other members of the network were identified and their movements monitored, leading to a raid on a warehouse in Khaldeh rented by Lebanese national J.Sh. on October 16, where around 110 kilograms of Kief Hashish was seized. The drugs were hidden inside an oven to be smuggled out of Lebanon.
In simultaneous raids around the country, nine members of the network were arrested, including six Lebanese nationals, two Syrians and an Egyptian.
Interrogations revealed that J.Sh. was a ringleader and had overseen the manufacture of Captagon, sourcing the materials for production and distribution both in Lebanon and abroad. Members of the network are still at large and investigations are underway to apprehend them.
