January 27–May, 1990: Both sides pounded the Christian enclave daily. The LF took over army positions in Jounieh, Kesrouan, and the coastline until Beirut, as well as Ashrafieh in Beirut, and the army positioned itself in Metn and the eastern suburbs of Beirut. In the first 18 days, 615 people died, and more than 2,000 were wounded, half of them civilians.
