A Practical Guide for Civil Society Organisations in Lebanon towards Gender Mainstreaming (En-Ar)

This Gender Manual is a practical guide for civil society organisations in Lebanon that wish to enhance gender equity in their practices and policies. Far from being exhaustive, this manual contains practical guidelines that can help to both gain a better understanding of gender-sensitive topics, as well as to integrate and implement them in internal processes, action plans, and organisational structures and policies. It is informed by the findings of a series of meetings and consultations with various stakeholders engaged in gender issues.

International Migration Paper 48: Women Migrant Domestic Workers in Lebanon

This study, prepared by Dr. Ray Jureidini, identifies practices and patterns that are the key causes for women domestic migrant workers' vulnerability in Bahrain and provide alternative approaches for effective means for action. The research compiled base line data and had the aim of bringing policy makers and all other concerned actors into dialogue in finding solutions through practical means to improve protection and enhance working conditions for women migrant domestic workers. This study identifies and assesses legal and administrative arrangements in hiring domestic workers.

The Basic Guidebook for Emerging Collectives, Cooperatives and NGOs in Lebanon (En-Ar)

This resource published within Lebanon Support's Humanitarian Knowledge Base, in partnership with the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC), aims to provide the tools and know-how to establish an organisation or collective and operate in Lebanon. It provides the basics relevant to establishing and running an NGO or unregistered group in Lebanon.

من الفضاء العام إلى المكاتب: تحوّل الحركات النسائية في لبنان إلى طابع المنظمات غير الحكومية وأثره على تعبئة النساء وتحقيق التغيير الاجتماعي (En-Ar)

تبدو المنظمات النسائية في لبنان اليوم على مفترق طرق. ففشل الدولة اللبنانية في معالجة مسألة حقوق المرأة المدنية ومكانتها في المجتمع، من بين قضايا أخرى، يؤشر على انسحاب الدولة من القطاع العام، نتيجة لانهيارها شبه التام خلال الحرب الأهلية بالتوازي مع الإصلاحات النيوليبرالية. وقد دفع ضعف الدولة المستمر والتاريخي والهيكلي في المجال العام بالمنظمات غير الحكومية والجمعيات الأهلية إلى السعي إلى ملء الفراغ الذي تركته الدولة.

Le Baromètre des sociétés civiles 2013 - L’autre visage de la mondialisation

Paris, le 13 février 2014 – Le CCFD-Terre Solidaire en partenariat avec l’Institut de relations internationales et stratégiques (IRIS), publie aujourd’hui la première édition du Baromètre des sociétés civiles – L’autre visage de la mondialisation. Ce rapport, auquel ont participé des chercheurs de l’IRIS, est le fruit de l’expertise du CCFD-Terre Solidaire qui soutient et accompagne depuis plus de 50 ans des organisations de la société civile (ONG, syndicats, organisations professionnelles, mouvements sociaux) à travers le monde et finance leurs projets.

Les politiques de coopération au développement des bailleurs étatiques placent de plus en plus le secteur marchand comme un acteur clé du développement, à la fois comme un partenaire financier ou opérationnel mais aussi comme un objectif en soi. Sa croissance dans les pays du Sud, que ce soit dans le domaine productif ou de la fourniture de services, y compris pour de la délégation de services publics ou l’offre de services bancaires, est considérée comme un indicateur positif.

Territorial Strategic Development Plan of Dinnieh Region, North Lebanon

The Strategic Planning is based on the findings of fieldwork carried out in several villages in Dinnieh, which aimed at identifying the major characteristics of the region in different fields. Strategic planning is necessary to empower local authorities and working groups (municipalities, NGOs, youth groups and stakeholders) and to enhance their participation in the planning process and project implementation.

Report on Difficulties Faced by Relief Operations in South Lebanon

One month after the ceasefire which allowed relief operations in South Lebanon to begin, various difficulties and obstacles to distribution and service provision have arisen. This report is based on observations of the Coordination Unit teams and interviews conducted with relief volunteers and staff of local and international NGOs. The main issues identified being governmental support and political challenges, UN response, relationship with local community, and private sector involvement.
