Guide and Tools
The present guide proposes to reconcile the gender-related targets in the Sustainable Development Goals with the objectives of the Beijing Platform according to various sub-topics. It is organized in two sections. Part I reviews all targets of SDG 5 (Achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls) in correspondence with relevant critical areas and strategic objectives in the Beijing Platform.
This resource is a United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) reference training manual for frontline staff on how to work with GBV survivors. The manual is comprised of eight units: 1) Definitions of Common Concepts and Terms; 2) Gender Based Violence; 3) Effects of Gender Based Violence; 4) Intervention in Cases of Gender Based Violence; 5) Support and Counselling Skills; 6) Role of Social Counsellor; 7) Role of Educators; and 8) Role of Health Care Providers.
This resource published within Lebanon Support's Humanitarian Knowledge Base, in partnership with the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC), aims to provide the tools and know-how to establish an organisation or collective and operate in Lebanon. It provides the basics relevant to establishing and running an NGO or unregistered group in Lebanon.
Launched on 12 December 2014, the Core Humanitarian Standard on Quality and Accountability (CHS) describes the essential elements of principled, accountable and quality humanitarian action. The CHS was developed by Groupe URD (Urgence, Réhabilitation, Développement), the Humanitarian Accountability Partnership (HAP) International, People In Aid and the Sphere Project.
The Sphere Project was initiated in 1997 by a group of NGOs and the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement to develop a set of universal minimum standards in core areas of humanitarian response: the Sphere Handbook. The aim of the Handbook is to improve the quality of humanitarian response in situations of disaster and conflict, and to enhance the accountability of the humanitarian system to disaster-affected people. The Humanitarian Charter and Minimum Standards in Humanitarian Response are the product of the collective experience of many people and agencies.
Accountability has many meanings. Traditionally, it was understood as the was in which those who authorised others to act on their behalf made sure that authority was being used as agreed. Accountability is now more often understood to also be a right of anyone affected by the use of authority. this recent meaning of accountability is the foundation for the HAP Standard. For the purpose of the HAP Standard, accountability is the means through which power is used responsibly.
The Sphere Project is an attempt by the operational agencies of the international humanitarian community to define common standards for the provision of assistance in a spirit of quality and accountability. But Sphere is not just a manual of humanitarian good practice. It is a statement about rights and duties and about the implications of the ‘right to life with dignity’ and a ‘right to humanitarian assistance’ for humanitarian practice. It is these aspects of rights and duties that are covered by the Humanitarian Charter.
ان كتاب "الدليل إلى معرفة أحوال المرأة" الصادر عام 2010،هو ثمرة للتعاون القائم بين الهيئة الوطنية لشؤون المرأة اللبنانية وصندوق الأمم المتحدة الإنمائي للمرأة ، في إطار البرنامج الإقليمي لدعم الحقوق الإنسانية للمرأة UNIFEM في مناطق المغرب والمشرق. وهو يرمي في الأساس إلى رسم الأطر التي يمكن من خلالها التعرّف على أحوال المرأة في مجالات عدّة في بلادنا، فالقاعدة المعرفيّة الموضوعيّة حول قضايا المرأة تشكّل الأساس الذي يمكن الإنطلاق منه لرفع مستوى الإدراك العام لأهميّة هذه القضايا ولرسم الاستراتيجيات الفعالة لمناصرتها.
This guide has been published in 2013 by ABAAD – Resource Center for Gender Equality, with the support of Save The Children. It is a manual intended for the use of facilitators, to guide them in explaining notions relevant to gender and gender equality to children and youth. The guide goes over five main notions: gender; gender roles; gender equality and justice, and the difference between gender equality and gender equity; gender equality analysis and how equality can be monitored; and gender discrimination and its consequences.
