Description:
Same text as “Oral History Archive” Whats the difference? Active Memory is an ongoing oral history programme dedicated to testimonial collection of stories and anecdotes from Palestinian refugees and documentation of their individual and collective experiences. The aim of this project is to revive and preserve Palestinian memory and oral culture and archive the difficult yet innovative experiences of Palestinians. The project produced a newspaper, an archive including 600 hours of recorded narratives, as well as printed and multi-media learning resources and films, e.g. the movie Mamlakat el-Nesa’ telling the story of Palestinian women in the southern camps in 1982 who lost their homes, destroyed by the Israeli invasion and their husbands, detainees in Israeli prisons.
